More than just a Sock Aid – Footwear Assist can help anyone who has difficulty reaching and accessing their feet!

Hi, I’m Allen Seals, the inventor of Footwear Assist. I’m a C-6 quadriplegic due to a spinal cord injury in 1979 but that didn’t stop me from becoming an accomplished athlete and world traveler.

I’ve competed in multiple sports on the national level and even won a World Championship in London with the USA Wheelchair Rugby Team in 1990.
I’ve also had terrific success as a coach, with my teams and athletes competing multiple times for National Titles and one of my athletes won Athlete of the Year, twice!

In my 12 years as a math teacher and assistant football coach at Sparks High School, in Northern Nevada, part of my job was to encourage the boys through action and not just words. By being part of the teaching and coaching staff, I demonstrated what a person can achieve, if they put their mind to it.

In 2012, I had a severe shoulder injury and could no longer put on my shoes and socks the way I always had. I knew I had to figure something out!Necessity is the mother of invention, as they say and Footwear Assist was born! It has taken me 5 years to develop the current version, one that I am very proud of.
